Adult Leagues Coordinator

USTA North Carolina is seeking a highly motivated person to fill the Adult League Coordinator position.  This position will assist the Director of Adult Leagues in coordinating and running the NC Adult Leagues as well as the Leagues’ State Championships. The successful candidate must have the ability to take initiative and work independently as well as collaboratively. The candidate must be extremely organized and capable of coordinating several events simultaneously with a high level of detail and able to meet strict deadlines. The individual must be a team player and willing to assume new responsibilities as they arise. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who has strong interpersonal and customer service skills. He or she must be proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.  A strong demonstrated background in tennis of at least 5 years is required for this position. Knowledge of the NTRP rating system is a plus.  The hiring range is $31-34K. This is a nonexempt position. This position is based in the office in Greensboro and telecommuting is not an option.

Director of Tennis

Hollow Rock Racquet & Swim Club (Durham, NC)


Hollow Rock Racquet & Swim Club is an award-winning, 22 court facility that is one of North Carolina's premiere, member-owned clubs with over 1,500 members. We have been a staple in the Triangle sports community for over 40 years, and promote a friendly, welcoming and fun environment for all of our members and guests.

We are currently looking for a Director of Tennis who will design, plan, and implement tennis programs that attract new members, retain existing members, and generate increased member participation and satisfaction. The Director is responsible for the proper management of all tennis operations, and ensure security and protection of the club’s assets and facilities. 

The responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Build, organize and maintain a comprehensive program of clinics, group and individual lessons.
    • Manage tennis professionals employed by the Club.
    • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to tennis professionals. Develops ongoing training programs and implements department standards.
    • Initiate, design, promote, and conduct tennis lessons, clinics, round robins, ladders, socials, programs, and tournaments in an effort to attract and maintain members’ tennis interests.
    • Review for accuracy of billing for members and guests.
    • Develop and produce all tennis brochures, flyers and price lesson list.
    • Promote ball machine rental and assist members with a first-time use orientation.
  • Build, organize and maintain a program of social tennis events, including mixers, club competitions, and other recreational activities.
    • Recruiting new participants to the various programs through networking, social marketing and other outreach activities.
    • Managing non-member participation and converting non-members to members.
    • Make introductions between members at the same playing level.  Increase member participation by actively "facilitating play."
    • Assist in the establishment of USTA teams and provide support to league teams of the Club.
    • Promote and support USTA team and tournament participation.
    • Write and edit tennis-related news for the club newsletter.
    • Prepares a monthly calendar of events.
    • Call and welcome all new tennis members within one week of joining the club and provide them with information about Club tennis programs.
    • Consistently check-in with members to see how their experience is at the Club, through phone calls, emails, surveys, face-to-face meeting etc.
  • Complete administrative tasks that allow for the full functionality of the department.
    • Develop and maintain a database of information on the tennis players within the Club (ability and interests).
    • Attend tennis committee meetings and any needed board meetings.
    • Assist with the maintenance of rules and implementation of changes as they occur, as well as maintain Club tennis calendar, court schedule and rainout schedule. 
    • Monitor the status of the tennis facilities and report to the General Manager or Maintenance Director any required repairs. Assist in any maintenance issues as necessary.
    • Manage inventory and all items related to the pro shop.
    • Contribute articles to newsletters, and provide information for the Club’s website.
    • Respond to all members’ phone calls and emails, as well as manage signups for all tennis related events.
    • Assist General Manager in the development of annual tennis department budget.
    • Plan, develop and implement initiatives that align with membership and revenue targets.
    • Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.
    • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member satisfaction.
    • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.

High School Tennis Coach - Apex HS

Do you want to give back to tennis? The time is now!  There is a High School Tennis Coach position opening up at Apex High School in Apex, NC.  Apex is in the SWAC Conference, and there are currently 9 schools within this conference. Starting in 2017, the conference will be restructured to 6 schools, with a 7th school to be added later.  (The conference for the 2017-18 school year will be:  Apex, Apex Friendship, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Middle Creek, Gardner, with South Gardner to be added to the conference at a later date). Both the Men and Women’s Tennis Coaching positions will be available in 2017.

Apex High School will undergo renovations from 2017-2019.  During this renovation period, Apex students will move to Green Level (the school has 6 tennis courts on site).  In 2019, when the renovations are complete, the NEW Apex High School will have 6 tennis courts located behind the baseball field.  This construction is ideal because the new tennis will have 6 tennis courts on site.  (In the past 8+ years Apex has had to play all their tennis off campus).

William Peace University


NCAA III Coach : needed for fall tennis season William Peace University needs an assistant coach to work with the men's and women's teams this fall in Raleigh NC. This will be a labor of love in the five-week fall non-traditional season, as assistant coaches are paid only during the spring season starting mid-January. WPU is starting a serious effort to climb the athletic ladder with new leadership administratively and athletically. The tennis courts are scheduled to be overhauled start mid-August, so our facility will be significantly improved as well.

Tennis Professional Position

Holly Springs, NC


Position will be responsible for professional work in planning, organizing, and scheduling all tennis programs for the Parks and Recreation department. Duties include but are not limited to developing and promoting tennis programs, managing all Parks and Recreation operated tennis facilities, providing quality tennis instruction and services, running the HSPR Junior Team Tennis program, advertising tennis leagues, selecting and supervising contracted tennis instructors, determining contractor payments, overseeing tennis events and tournaments, coordinating schedules for programs, managing reservations for tennis facilities, assisting with maintenance of facilities, determining equipment needs and recommending equipment purchases, developing and administering the annual tennis budget, providing customer service to answer questions and encourage program registrations, maintaining accurate records, and other various administrative duties. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of tennis skills, rules and strategies. Applicant should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Position will require a variable work schedule to include evenings and/or weekends. USPTA or USPTR certification preferred. 

Hiring rate: Stipend of $1000 per month. Program commission negotiable
