The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) held the 2015 Women's Tennis State Championships on Oct. 30-31, crowning singles and doubles champions across the four levels of high school tennis. Some familiar faces kept their reign in tact, including 4-A singles champion Susanne Boyden, 4-A doubles champion Sammi Smith and 3-A singles champion Adrienne Haynes, all players who have been a part of Team North Carolina.
Boyden, a standout at Raleigh Wakefield, defeated fellow Team NC member Amanda Cyr 6-3, 6-0 to catpure her third straight 4-A singles title. Now finishing her senior year, Boyden is a top 100 recruit for 2016.
Smith and her teammate Jordan Strickland took down Lizzie Galush and Jenna Knors 6-3, 6-2 to win their fourth 4-A doubles title at Panther Creek. A four-peat in doubles has only been accomplished one other time in NCHSAA history.
Asheville's Adrienne Haynes beat Sarah Jiang 6-2, 6-4 to win her second straight 3-A singles title. Haynes lost to Jiang in the singles semifinals in 2013, but she has been unstoppable over the last two seasons.
