The North Carolina Tennis Foundation is pleased to announce the newly renovated and relocated North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame is now open to the public. The cutting-edge technology featured in the new Hall of Fame puts North Carolina’s rich tennis history at each guest’s fingertips. The goal of this project was to create a place where the tennis players and enthusiasts of North Carolina could come together and celebrate tennis in North Carolina. The Hall of Fame will be open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm and on weekends by appointment only.
A special Grand Opening was held May 3rd-4th as a private viewing opportunity for current Hall of Fame members as well as donors of the 2005 Capital Campaign. Guests were delighted as they walked around every corner to find something new and exciting. A special ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially open the new Hall of Fame.
The previous Hall was built in 1979 within the J. Spencer Love Tennis Center facility in Greensboro and at that time was the only state Tennis Hall of Fame in the country. The new location is within the Harold T. and Mildred F. Southern North Carolina Tennis Center, which houses the offices of the NC Tennis Foundation and NC Tennis Association.
The first class of the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame was inducted in 1975. The Hall has continued to serve as a way to honor persons, who by excellence of their activities in or connection with North Carolina Tennis, have brought substantial recognition and esteem to themselves and to the State.
