USTA North Carolina Notebook

2011 Grand Prix

Tennis players across North Carolina had a unique opportunity this year to play for a chance to win tickets to the 2012 US Open. The special tournament series, which featured 16 NTRP Designated Grand Prix Events in four areas, was open to all men and women competing in 2.5-4.5 singles and doubles. Thirteen players met the first requirement of playing at least three of the designated tournaments, two of which had to be within the area they reside. The second requirement was to accumulate enough standing points to be ranked first or second among those who qualified.

Congratulations to the eight individuals listed below who had the most points among qualifiers and are eligible for the drawing. The standings were determined by tournaments played through November and were published on the 29th of this month.

Each player’s name will be put in a pool and a random drawing will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Tennis Weekend in Pinehurst. The Grand Prize winner will receive two tickets to the 2012 US Open (a day or night session to be determined), as well as two airline tickets.  Qualifiers who attend the drawing at Tennis Weekend will be eligible to win door prizes.
