WILMINGTON, NC (November 15, 2011) – After eight days of play and more than 1,500 matches, the final nine state champions were crowned at the 2011 North Carolina Southern Combo Doubles State Championships this past weekend. The two-week tournament featured nearly 2,500 athletes from across the state, all battling for one of 22 state championships. Week two of the 2011 tournament, which took place in Wilmington, N.C. Nov. 10-14, featured nine divisions at men and women adult, senior and super senior levels. Skill levels included the 5.5, 7.5 and 9.5 divisions. Central and South East Tennis led all areas with a pair of state champions. Central captured the Adult Women 5.5 and Senior Women 7.5 levels, while South East Tennis won the Adult Men 9.5 and Super Senior Women 7.5 championships.
