The North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs (NC CAP) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) has entered into an agreement for the purpose of increasing awareness and exposure to the sport of tennis and expanding opportunities for elementary and middle school-aged youth during out-of-school time (OST) throughout the State of North Carolina. Various venues for which NC CAP will target support will include schools, parks and recreation, YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, not-for-profit community programs and/or collaborative efforts which include a combination of partners.
In 2012, ten organizations from across were selected as a pilot program and started a tennis unit in summer or fall of last year! These organizations received training, equipment and hands on tennis experience at events such as NC CAP Synergy and the Winston-Salem Open. Please read the following story regarding the current program with Green County Schools to see how tennis could impact your program.
Though a joint effort with USTA North Carolina, NC CAP is looking for at least ten additional organizations from across the state who are interested in implementing a tennis component in their afterschool program in 2013. If you would like more information on this initiative please email either Tyson Thompson at Tyson@nctennis.com or Alfred Mays at firstname.lastname@example.org
For those organizations who are ready to be considered, please fill out the Interest Application! If criteria is met to be considered, we will reach out in the very near future to discuss the program more in depth!
